OUR IMPACT

Your donation to the South and Central Health Foundation is an investment in the health and well being of individuals, families and communities throughout southern and central Newfoundland. When you choose to support the South and Central Health Foundation, you can be assured that 100% of your donation stays right here to support healthcare in this region! Furthermore, you can choose to support the area of greatest  need or direct your donation to a specific facility, program or community health service of the Central Regional Health Authority. The choice is yours!

Over the past ten years, we have worked with our donors to provide the following support:

Areas of care equipped:                              16

Projects funded:                                         351

Facilities supported:                                      9

Staff and physicians supported:          3,360

Dollars invested in healthcare:  $ 3,329,139

Examples of the many projects funded by our donors.

NEW SERVICE FOR PATIENTS

Nerve Conduction Testing Equipment
A new assessment tool arrived this year that enables the neurology team at the Central Newfoundland Regional Health Centre to diagnose muscle and nerve damage in diabetic patients as well as those suffering from Carpel Tunnel Syndrome and other diseases such as ALS. Patients now can avail of this testing here at home instead of travelling to St. John's.

MENTAL HEALTH AND ADDICTIONS

A recent donation from Bell Aliant to support a bicycle sharing program for patients dealing with  mental health issues.

EMERGENCY CARE

Newfoundland Power employees donated over $5,400 to support cancer patients and their families in the south and central region.

Two sleep chairs and a vital signs monitor were funded

for the comfort of cancer patients and their families who find themselves spending the night in emergency room.

WOMEN’S AND CHILDREN’S HEALTH

A new Breast Specimen Imaging Unit (one of only two in the province) is having a significant impact on the patient experience -

- reducing time the patient is under anaesthesia, and decreasing the time required for repositioning during breast biopsies.
